SPOILER ALERT!

Eleanor and Park

Eleanor & Park - Rainbow Rowell

Rainbow Rowell is now on my list of favorite authors. This book was brilliant and funny and adorable and heartbreaking. Highly recommend to anyone. Literally all of you.

One thing I wanted to bring up was that this book made me realize how much the narrator controls our perspective of their world. If a story was narrated by a different character, the entire mood of the novel could be different. The narrator decides how much they want us to see and how they want us to view their world, which is pretty crazy to think about. If they wanted to keep something secret from the reader, they totally could. Of course it's not long until we figure it out ;)

Read the book, if you haven't. If you have, let's talk about it because it was so so so good and I love love love book talk buddies.

October TBR, New Releases, and Excitement

Here's the list of books I plan on reading in the month of October (aka The Month of Releases I've Been Waiting an Eternity to Read)!

First up: Eleanor and Park by Rainbow Rowell.

I read Fangirl in September and I'm so excited to read another book by this author. I've heard nothing but good things about it, so my expectations are high.

Next: Confessions: The Private School Murders by James Patterson

This is book two in the Confessions of a Murder Suspect Series. I'm a huge James Patterson fan and I cannot wait to get my hands on this!! The novel will be released on October 7th.

Next up: House of Hades by Rick Riordan

oooooohhhhhh my goodness. October is finally upon us. This book is so close I can taste it. This is the fourth book in the Heroes of Olympus series, a spin-off of Percy Jackson and the Olympians, to be released October 8th. This is probably my favorite series ever and if you haven't read Percy Jackson, go do it now. The third book ended with literally the cliffiest of cliff hangers and I AM TOO EXCITED FOR THIS BOOK I CAN'T EVEN BREATHE.

And the fangirling continues with Never Fade by Alexandra Bracken.

This is book two in the Darkest Minds series. The Darkest Minds is an amazing dystopian debut novel that any fans of the genre should read. It's well written, original and action-packed. The sequel is to be released on October 15th.

 Finally, Allegiant by Veronica Roth.

This is book three in the Divergent Trilogy, another amazing dystopian series. Book two left us with an insane cliff hanger, and this final book is highly anticipated. It's going to be written in duel perspectives, which makes me a very happy camper. I'm very excited to see where this story goes next, and how Tris' story is going to finally come to a close. Allegiant is scheduled to be released on October 22nd.

I've literally been waiting a year for most of these and I AM SO EXCITED. I can already tell this is gonna be a great reading month for me! Expect lots of reviews! :)

Fangirl

Fangirl - Rainbow Rowell

Last week I finished Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell and it was fantastic (does that count as a pun?). Overall, I thought Rowell's novel was a very relatable coming of age story with amazing characters. This novel was also pretty different from any other contemporary I've read. I especially loved the complexity of Wren and Cath's family and how they came to rely on the Simon Snow fandom as a way to escape the world after their mother left them.

This is my first time every reading Rainbow Rowell and I loved the way she wrote her characters. They all seemed to have very distinct qualities that really helped me to put an image together in my head and I honestly can't think of a single character I didn't like. My favorites have to be Cath and Reagan. I can really relate to Cath's obsession with Simon Snow and I immediately fell in love with Reagan's sass. And the relationship between these two was hilarious and one of my favorite parts of the book.

I also thought the structure of the novel was genius. The way the excerpts of fanfiction and the Simon Snow books fit with Cath's story line was perfect. Towards the end of the novel, I could really see all the metaphors in Simon's story for the different situations in Cath's life. I also really appreciated how Rowell managed to write a romance that wasn't incredibly passionate love-at-first-sight, but a relationship that grew slowly and was utterly adorable.

I definitely recommend this to anyone who loves a good contemporary, especially if you've never read Rainbow Rowell. Now I'm off to start Eleanor and Park! Rainbow is slowly climbing up my list of favorite authors and I can't wait to she what she writes next!

I'm a Blogger Now/Book Haul!

So I guess I'm a book blogger now. I'm kind of notorious for quitting things but I'm gonna give this a shot! So for my first post, here's a book haul! I got bored and ordered some books from Amazon and now they're here for your viewing pleasure.

(I decided to jump on the Rainbow Rowell bandwagon, if you couldn't tell)

So first up, a book I've been waiting for FOREVER...

 Fangirl - Rainbow Rowell  .

Pre-Reading Summary:

Cath and her twin sister Wren just started college. Wren has grown away from the Simon Snow fandom, but Cath doesn't know how to give it up. Now she has to learn how to live her own life away from her sister, while dealing with all of the crazy new people she meets at school.

First off, can we talk about how awesome this cover is?! GAH I can't get over the adorableness!! As a person who considers herself a major fangirl (superwholock, anyone?), I found the whole premise of this book super exciting! I started reading this the second I opened the box and I haven't put it down yet! Review to come soon

Next, the book it feels like everyone's already read...

Eleanor & Park - Rainbow Rowell   (I have a feeling I'm gonna like this author)

Pre-Reading Summary:

This book is a tale of teenage love set in the 80's. Eleanor and Park are two star-crossed lovers trying to beat the odds and make their relationship last. (You probably already knew that.)

So basically I'm reading this because literally everyone loves it. John Green loved it, and if it's good enough for him, it's good enough for me. I've heard nothing but great things about this novel and about Rainbow Rowell and I'm expecting lots of feels.

And finally, my impulse buy...

Halo - Alexandra Adornetto

Pre-Reading Summary:

I knew nothing about this book when I bought it. Still don't, actually... From speed-reading the inside cover I can infer it's a tale of true love between a fallen angel and a human boy with a super cool name. That's all I got.

I love angel books. I love inexpensive books. I love inexpensive books about angels. I bought this as a total impulse buy because of the ah-mazing price (errybody loves cheap books) and the pretty cover. I haven't seen a lot of reviews on it, so I'm holding my judgement until I actually get around to reading it.

And that's my mini-haul!

I'm super excited I finally started a book blog! I plan on posting lots of reviews, hauls, wrap ups, TBR's, and probably a bunch of other random bookish things. (I might do a bookshelf tour someday?) Also check me out on my goodreads, twitter, and tumblr. I love talking to people so follow away!

See you guys soon!
